Joy Eating & The Tedious Powerful Worksheet

Listen to the recording…

http://localhost/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Joy-Eating1.mp3

This exercise is to be used as often as you want. In fact, I encourage you to use it with a bunch of different joy foods/drinks. Use it with foods you think are delicious – and even with those you feel out of control around. Especially with foods you feel out of control around. One of the goals I have for my clients is that they feel in control around ANY food.

The only “rule” is that you choose foods that have no nutritional value – foods that you eat for pure pleasure and entertainment.

This worksheet can be a bit tedious and time consuming, but the results are AMAZING. Please trust me and see for yourself.

What You Might Learn:

  • You might learn that you don’t actually LOVE the taste of something you thought you loved.
  • You might learn that you absolutely LOVE all 10 bites of certain joy foods.
  • You might learn that you stop enjoying certain joy foods well before you reach the 10th bite.
  • You might learn that certain foods send you into a emotional tailspin that makes you want to binge your booty off. I would recommend journaling if this happens. Ask yourself why you want to keep eating that particular food.
  • You might find that some foods feel terrible in your body.

There are no right or wrong answers. This worksheet is all about discovery.

The Worksheet:

Choose a joy food (or drink) that you love. Make sure you have enough of this food available – at least 10 bites/sips. Do not do this worksheet if you’re very hungry (beyond -4).

Name of Food:

Describe the food in detail (look, smell texture, color):

How do I feel right now (one word emotion)?

Where am I on the Hunger Scale?

Describe each bite and stop to write in between bites. Stop eating the food when you stop enjoying it.

Describe bite 1 in detail:

Describe bite 2 in detail:

Describe bite 3 in detail:

Describe bite 4 in detail:

Describe bite 5 in detail:

Describe bite 6 in detail:

Describe bite 7 in detail:

Describe bite 8 in detail:

Describe bite 9 in detail:

Describe bite 10 in detail:

Did all the bites taste the same?

Did this food taste less pleasurable or more pleasurable over time?

When did you stop eating? Why?

How did this food feel in your body?

Will you continue to choose this food for future joy eats? Why or why not.
