If you’re on a GLP-1 medication like Zepbound or Wegovy — or even just thinking about starting — you might be asking yourself a very reasonable, very human question:
“Do I really need support… or should I be able to figure this out on my own?”
Let me say this gently:
Needing support does not mean you’re failing.
Most of the time, it means you’re paying attention.
I’ve been coaching women through weight loss, habit change, and body trust for almost 20 years. Long before GLP-1s entered the conversation. I’ve also lived this work personally. I know what it’s like to try to white-knuckle change, to feel at war with your body, and to believe you should be able to do this alone.
GLP-1 medications can be incredibly helpful tools. They quiet food noise, reduce appetite, and make weight loss feel possible in a way it maybe hasn’t before.
Medication can change appetite quickly.
Learning how to eat, fuel, and care for yourself in this new landscape takes practice and patience.
That’s where support can help — not urgently, not dramatically, but thoughtfully.
Here are 7 signs coaching support might be helpful, even if things are technically “working.”
1️⃣ You’re losing weight… but feel oddly ungrounded
On paper, things look good.
The scale is moving. Clothes fit differently.
And yet, you might feel:
- disconnected from your body
- unsure what hunger even feels like now
- nervous to trust the process without constant checking
When appetite shifts quickly, your internal cues need time to recalibrate.
One of the biggest things I help clients with is rebuilding body trust — not chasing outcomes, not micromanaging food, but learning how to listen again without fear.
2️⃣ You forget to eat — then crash later
This is one of the most common patterns I see:
“I’m not hungry all day… and then suddenly I’m exhausted, shaky, or ravenous.”
GLP-1s reduce appetite — but they don’t remove your body’s need for:
- protein
- fuel
- consistency
Many women I work with are shocked to realize they’re under-eating — not because they’re restricting, but because hunger cues are quieter than they’ve ever been.
Support helps you eat on purpose, not by accident.
3️⃣ You’re worried about doing it “wrong”
You might notice a low-level hum of questions running in the background:
Am I eating enough protein?
Is this too little food?
Is this normal… or should I be worried?
Support gives you a place to talk things through — out loud — instead of carrying it all in your head.
4️⃣ Digestion suddenly feels unpredictable
Constipation. Bloating. Nausea. “Weird belly days.”
These are common on GLP-1s — especially early on — but that doesn’t mean you have to just power through.
Support helps you:
- problem-solve gently
- adjust fiber, hydration, and timing
- know when to add something — and when to back off
5️⃣ You’re scared of what happens if the dose changes — or stops
Even if things are going well now, a quiet fear may linger:
“What if this stops working?”
“What if I have to come off it someday?”
Coaching shifts the focus from dependency to skill-building. You learn habits that travel with you, whether you stay on medication long-term or not.
6️⃣ The emotional side surprised you
Many women feel:
- relief
- grief
- confusion
- a quiet “why was this so hard before?”
Weight loss on GLP-1s isn’t just physical. It can bring up identity shifts, old stories, and complicated emotions.
Support means having space for the feelings, not just the food.
7️⃣ You don’t want another plan — you want guidance
If you’re thinking:
- “I don’t need a meal plan.”
- “I don’t want rules.”
- “I just want someone to help me adjust and trust myself.”
That’s exactly how I work.
I don’t hand out rigid plans. I don’t believe in perfection. I believe in collaboration, compassion, and practical tools that fit real life.
The Bottom Line
GLP-1 medications can open the door.
Coaching helps you walk through it with:
- nourishment
- steadiness
- confidence
- and skills that last
If you’re curious about working with a GLP-1 coach — I’d love to talk.
